New Years |r e s o l u t i o n s|

2018 is almost upon us and I can’t believe it.

Seriously, where did the year go?!?

I’ve never really been one to make “New Year’s Resolutions”, I think I just know I’ll never stick to them. Mentally I would say to myself, “Hey, a new year. This would be a great time to start afresh and start a new routine with all those things you wanted to do.” Then January 1st rolls around, I blink, and it’s January 26th and I have changed literally nothing.

But here we are. It’s December 31st 2017, 2018 is just hours away, so I thought I would write down a few things I’d like to accomplish in the new year!

  1. Read Les Misérables. {and just read more in general}
Ever since I saw the movie, I’ve been dying to get my hands on the book. Which now that I have (thanks mom and dad), I understand why everyone calls it ‘the brick.’
It’s a long read, looks a bit tedious, but I’m honestly so excited to read more about the characters and finally get their entire backstories.
So here’s to hoping I can finish this beautiful monster of a book in 2018.
  2. Make-up and Skincare.
I’ve been watching a lot of makeup vids on YouTube this last year (yes I’m talking to you NikkiTutorials) and it’s made me want to experiment more. Different colored mascara? Purple lipstick? Red eyeshadow? Blue tinted highlight? Sharp contour? The perfect brows? I just really want to get better at makeup, try more products, and try new looks that maybe I wouldn’t have even considered before.
And maybe 2018 will finally be the year I defeat winged liner..please let it be.
Tied in with this one is my skin. I’ve got dry skin that loves to scar which is no fun. So I’m also determined to nail down a routine that keeps my skin happy.
  3. Be more spontaneous.
It’s just kinda hit me that I’m going to be t w e n t y years old soon. I can go out at night for donuts with friends at 9pm if I want. Or I can call up a friend and ask if they want to go to dinner in an hour. I can dooooooo things. And I don’t know why but I always forget that our curfews aren’t 8pm, and that we can go places that require more than 15 minutes of driving.
I don’t know exactly what this “resolution” entails, but I just know I want to get out more and have fun. Make memories, take pictures, dress up, laugh a lot, and explore a bit. Maybe even go away for a few days. WHO KNOWS.
  4. Get my driver’s license.
I’ve got my permit, we’ve got the family car that I’ll be driving, so now we’re just waiting on me to pick up the skills. I’m a strange one, so I tend to get suuuupppperrr nervous about stuff like this. I can’t stand others watching me do something that they know how to do. Because even if I happen to be doing it correctly, I tell myself I’m not because I can feel their eyes on me, and my hands end up shaking and my heart speeds up and I tense up and panic. Which results in me swerving the car or pressing on the gas instead of the brake or turning my signal on when I don’t need to.
For those of you who may not know, panicking is the last thing you want to do while driving. 😂
So. Yes. I’d like to get going on that. And be calmer when it comes to learning. And who knows. Maybe when I go to take the test the instructor will get a call saying they won the lottery and they’ll be so ecstatic that they’ll just pass me.
    Don’t laugh.
    It could happen.
  5. Meet my internet pal.
There’s this girl, who is one of the funniest, sweetest, kindest, most talented humans I’ve ever had the pleasure of talking to. We met in 2015, and have kept talking ever since. (thank you pinterest)
The only bummer is that she lives all the way across the USA. Like … literally. On the far, far, other side of the USA.
So no. I’ve never seen her face to face, or heard her laugh in person. But we’ve become such good friends just through texting and sending little pictures and videos. It’s actually kinda funny in a totally awesome way.
This one isn’t really something that I hope will happen, this is more something that I’m telling 2018 that needs to happen. I’m looking the year dead in the eyes and telling it that it has to make time for this event because It. Is. Happening.

I’m sure there’s a few more things I’ll think of over the next few days, but these are the main handful I’d like to tackle.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and have a lovely New Years Eve!

See you next year,
Madi Rose
